The One About Landscape Projects

By: William Supko
March 13, 2015

How many people are aware that Busch Gardens Williamsburg has a major "landscaping project" for 2015?  It appears that this "landscaping project" will feature a "statue" made by Premier Rides and will feature an LSM launch, one inversion and a non inverting loop.

The ride is a Sky Rocket II model from Premier Rides.  The same ride runs as Superman Ultimate Flight at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in California  and Sky Scream at Holiday
Park in Germany.  Two more coasters of this model are expected to open.  One will be located in China and the other will be located in Mexico.  Popular internet belief is that the ride at BGW will be called Tempesto.

So why all of the secrecy? Why not just announce their is a new roller coaster coming?  Captain Obvious could have pointed that out a roller coaster was coming when the ride started going vertical, so why not just spill the details?  Because Busch Gardens Williamsburg is (possibly) a marketing genius!  That's why.

Think about it coaster fans.  How many blog posts with breaking news about the new ride have you followed? how man pictures have you clicked? How many online discussions have you gotten into about the new ride?  They've piqued your curiosity.  They've gotten you to Facebook, Tweet, Pin,  and blog (and whatever else you crazy kids do these days).  The ride is going viral and all the park had to do was Install the ride with the whole world watching.

No announcement that the new ride was coming and then later calling it a landscaping project really got the coaster world interested.  The more that Busch Gardens refused to share the more we wanted to know.  Well the cat is going to have to come out of the bag soon because the park is set to open March 27 with a season pass sneak preview March 21.

So there are only two questions left to be answered. When will the new ride be officially announced?  It will hopefully be announced very soon.  Did Busch Gardens Williamsburg leak any of the pictures or info to get the coaster community buzzing?  The world may never know.

Join The Coaster Crew's BGWFansite on Facebook for photos of the new ride and the lastest on BGW including shows, rides, food and more.  Be sure to check out the awesome RCDB.com (Roller Coaster Database) for pictures of the new ride along with info on tons of roller coasters around the world.

See you on the midway soon.
